Version 1.0 will be released here this week. I promise! :-) We won't be submitting this release to the catalog, we want to get some of the "Coming Soon" features done first.

So call me stupid, what does it do? Is it an address book? A correspondence system? I'm not sure I've read anything about it before.

Carl, here is the original announcement http://www.johndavidhead.com/jhead/johnhead.nsf/dx/announcing-the-openntf.org-contacts-experience-project . Basically, this is an effort to take the default Contacts template and add more functionality. Just like the OpenNTF Mail Experience project that Vince runs. The first version is all integration stuff - creating letters, envelopes, presentations, mail merge, and export. All the stuff that I have been showcasing in my sessions at Lotusphere and other conferences. Instead of just having code snipits, this is delivered for the end user to consume out of the box. It also supports both Office and Symphony. Select which one you prefer and the template does the rest.

    Thanks.

  4. 4) Alan Lepofsky says:

So is it an upgraded mail template, or are you taking the contacts out of mail and syncing them?

  5. 5) John Head says:

What are you talking about Alan? Contacts are only in the mail file for web and mobile sync. The Contacts database, previously called the Personal Name & Address Book (names.nsf on the local install) still holds the contact documents for the Notes client. That has not changed.
